Why isn't this on the Mac App Store?
App Store apps run in a sandbox that blocks exactly the kind of broad, cross-app scanning this depends on — reading other apps' caches, Application Support folders, and project directories. Selling it directly is what lets it actually do its job.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Deletions go to Trash, not permanent removal. External moves are copied and verified before the original is touched. Leave Alone items are never scanned for removal.
Do I need to keep my external drive connected?
Only for items you've moved there — a link is left behind at the original spot, so the app or file that needs it still finds it, as long as the drive is plugged in.
Does it clean up after apps I've uninstalled?
Yes. It checks what's actually still installed, then flags the caches, preferences, logs and background-launch files that a removed app left behind. Anything in a system folder is marked admin-only and revealed in Finder so you remove it with your own password — the app never deletes system files itself.
